Each protocol section begins with a summary description of the various regulations covered and is followed by the body of the protocol itself which contains a series of questions relating to the applicable legislation. Important clarifying information is often furnished either as a "Note" to a particular question or in an accompanying table or appendix.

This protocol has been prepared to reflect the principal environmental, health and safety (EH&S) legislation that applies to facilities located in the Republic of France ("France"). This protocol applies to mainland France, including the island of Corsica, but may not be applicable to the various overseas departments and territories that also are a part of the Republic.

Regulating bodies for France include:

• Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Development
